Terms of use.

By using this website, you agree to the terms below. They are written to be readable; please take a few minutes to do so.

1. Educational content, not professional advice

The Green Energy ROI Hub publishes educational and reference material about residential solar economics in the United States. The calculator, guides, glossary, and state pages are not a substitute for advice from a licensed solar installer, professional engineer, certified public accountant, financial advisor, or attorney.

Decisions involving capital outlays in the tens of thousands of dollars should be made on the basis of a site-specific engineering assessment, written installer quotes, jurisdiction-specific tax review, and your own financial circumstances. The site's outputs are estimates derived from national averages and disclosed assumptions, and will diverge from real-world quotes and outcomes.

2. No warranty

All content is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the calculator's outputs will be accurate, current, or applicable to your specific situation. We make best efforts to keep data fresh and methodology correct, and to publish corrections promptly when errors are identified — but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation.

3. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Green Energy ROI Hub, its operators, contributors, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or use — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, this site or its outputs, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

If you reside in a jurisdiction that does not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages, the above limitation may not apply to you.

4. Intellectual property

Original content on this site — calculator code, methodology pages, guides, and glossary — is licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0. You may copy, redistribute, remix, and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercially, provided you (a) credit the Green Energy ROI Hub with a link back to the relevant page and (b) license your derivative works under the same terms.

State incentive data is derived from DSIRE® at NC State University and is likewise licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. Attribution to DSIRE is required for any reuse of that data.

Trademarks of EIA, NREL, DSIRE, IRS, SEIA, EnergySage, Wood Mackenzie, and equipment manufacturers referenced on this site remain the property of their respective owners. Reference to a trademark does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship.

5. Third-party links

Pages on this site link to external resources (government datasets, methodology documents, vendor pages) for the convenience and verification of our readers. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, security, or privacy practices of external sites. A link does not constitute endorsement.

6. Acceptable use

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Disputes arising out of these terms shall be resolved exclusively in the federal or state courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

8. Changes

We may update these terms periodically. Material changes will be announced via a banner on every page for at least 30 days. Your continued use of the site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
